As a significant part of the vibrant cultural life of Silicon Valley, the Bay Shore Lyric Opera company has been proud to produce live opera productions with orchestra, sets, costumes and thrilling soloists. Our mission is to bring the best quality opera to all ages in the communities at affordable prices. BSLO’s principal activities include educating and entertaining our patron’s with the strongest commitment to quality. BSLO provides opportunities for young artists to perform and gain valuable experience and programming is selected to reach out to new audiences and include many of the ethnic groups residing in Silicon Valley.
Because we have a strong emphasis on the community, BSLO recruits community singers, actors, set builders, lighting directors, musicians and administrative volunteers in all areas of the company. The principal activity of our company throughout the year is to produce free opera at the park for the community and with the community involved artistically or in another way.

BSLO has increased their subscriber and audience bases year over year and continues to reach out to new communities in order to bring this vibrant art form to audiences. We strive to make this rich and historic art form accessible to new audiences of all ages by selecting venues throughout the Bay Area to reach a larger audience base. We strengthen the regional cultural and artistic community through collaborations with a diverse range of performing arts organizations. The success of the productions aim to achieve the following purpose: Bringing new patrons into the communities in which we perform to stimulate the area commerce at restaurants, shops and other businesses while attending the opera.
Because BSLO strives to keep ticket costs affordable for all audience members, the cost of producing these programs is covered only about 20% by ticket sales. The balance of funding must be raised through donations, grants, and special events. We would appreciate your help so that we can continue to bring these quality opera productions to the Silicon Valley community. Be assured a donation made this way directly supports the Bay Shore Lyric Opera. All donors will be listed in BSLO concert programs.
