Mozart’s classic comedic opera The Marriage of Figaro will be presented by BSLO in three Free public locations throughout the greater bay area. This production is fully-staged, sung in Italian with English spoken dialogue, will feature members of the Winchester Orchestra under the baton of conductor Michael Di Giacinto. The cast are made up of emerging young singers and talented opera professionals.

The Marriage of Figaro is a continuation of the plot of Rossini’s earlier opera The Barber of Seville, all drawn from Beaumarchais’ Figaro Trilogy. Figaro and his bride-to-be Susanna are busily preparing for their wedding celebrations; however, their lord Count Almaviva desires Susanna for himself and thus makes various attempts to stall the civil portion of the wedding. Figaro, Susanna, and the Countess discover his plot and conspire to reveal his scheming, all in hilarious fashion. Since opening in Vienna in 1786, Figaro has become one of the most popular operas of all time, performed in cities all over the world in countless incarnations.
